January 2018 ushers in a new year full of fresh beginnings and presents new opportunities, an idea well represented by this month’s upcoming titles. Those making resolutions to partake in playing games can take solace in the button-clacking and touchscreen-tapping fun ahead. The next thirty days sees several big releases enter the light of day, including the hyper-styled Dragon Ball FighterZ, the open-world Monster Hunter World, and the action-packed console port Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT.

The theme for January 2018 seems to be “classics,” due to numerous hits from the past making their modern platform debut. The notoriously addictive platformer Super Meat Boy is finally headed to Nintendo Switch, the beloved Pokémon Crystal is on the way to Nintendo 3DS, and numerous other classics are freely available in this month’s selections for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Games With Gold.

Another bout of content is also on the horizon, providing a number of popular games with supplemental DLC. Battlefield 1 is receiving the second part of its Turning Tides expansion, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus continues the fight for freedom in ‘Silent Death‘, and Season 1 and 2 content is collected in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
