Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Gets Milla Jovovich Movie Crossover (VIDEO)

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Movie Milla Jovovich

The long-running Monster Hunter series is set to debut a big-screen adaptation very soon as former Resident Evil movie star Milla Jovovich leads the cinematic hunt starting next month. While the adventure has looked decidedly interesting based on the action-packed trailers available, it appears there will be at least one more stop before the film eventfully premieres: the in-game creaturescape of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Yes, the Monster Hunter movie is officially coming to Capcom’s Monster Hunter World: Iceborne for a limited-time crossover event. Starting December 3rd, the collaboration will see the addition of two special quests inspired by the film, as well as a playable version of Milla Jovovich’s character Artemis from the movie. Not only does Ms. Jovovich lend her likeness to the digital role, but the actress will also voice her approaching appearance in the game.

As per Capcom, players with Master Rank 1 or above will have access to two single-player quests during the Monster Hunter movie event. Part one, called “The New World,” puts the player in the desert locale of Wildspire Waste to take down a Black Diablos roaming the area. The second part, “To Our World,” picks up after the first quest, this time tasking the player with slaying a big bad Rathalos amid the Ancient Forest.

Those who complete this two-part quest in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne hope to gain a number of movie-inspired goodies such as the “Cinematic World” Guild Card background, the “Courageous Hunter” and “Skilled Hunter” poses, and a handful of new card titles (Artemis, Devil’s Teeth, Sky Tower, Ranger, Chocolate, and Movie). Players who log in before December 2nd can also be awarded the Movie Quest Item Pack, doling out helpful items like Ancient Potions, Dust of Life, Golden Eggs, True Armor Spheres, and Earplug Jewel+4.

The arrival of this new content marks the only high-profile update to hit Monster Hunter World: Iceborne since concluding its rollout of major title updates back in October. While the end of Capcom’s plans for the title is near, the creature-slaying series is nonethless far from reaching its conclusion. Not only does the Monster hunter movie hit theaters in December, but two additional games are currently on track to debut for the Nintendo Switch sometime next year.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. The Monster Hunter movie premieres in theaters on December 25th.
