Blizzard Promises More Story-Related Content for Overwatch This Year – More Animated Shorts!

Blizzard’s Overwatch is more than just a simple shooter – and that’s a big reason why it is still wildly popular among the gaming community. Between the expressive animated shorts to show light on these elaborate pasts of the heroes, the comic book series, fan theories, and more – there is a lot to love about the roster full of misfits. Good news for fellow fans that want to know more – Blizzard is not abandoning the story-esque aspect of the FPS title yet – 2017 will house even more glorious backstories for us to know and cry over. And yes, we’ve begged for some insight too over here at DFTG:

Michael Chu, lead writer, took to the Overwatch forums to assure fans that they have not forgotten about their promise of more stories in the future:

We have a lot in the works, with Orisa and her story being the first release of the year. One of our goals for 2017 is to try to have more frequent story-related updates and content, so we’re very busy with that. And a little something else is coming just around the corner, so look out for it!”

Immediately fans (and, OK … me too) freaked out with speculation of a double hero announcement, but we’ll have to try to be patient and see what else Blizzard has up their sleeve. With the latest defense bot hero Orisa currently in PTR (Public Test Realm), there is definitely a lot to be excited about. If you haven’t met her yet, you can see our full thoughts and exactly what she can do in our First Impressions piece right here.

Any roster favourites you’d love to know more about? How about Pharah’s lineage? What better way to reveal her father (because we already know the sniper Ana is her mother) than in a brand new animated short! Or would you rather see more on Lucio?
