Resident Evil 2 Naturally Mods Mr. X As Thomas the Tank Engine (VIDEO)

Following the lead-up and release of Resident Evil 2, Capcom’s survival-horror revival has continued its momentus ride through players minds with the advent of numerous mods. Though fans have undoubted appreciation for introductions such as the classic 90s UI, fixed camera angles, and even a Dino Crisis cameo, the mod scene’s muse at the moment has surely been Mr. X.

The villainous Tyrant has seen a bevy of varyingly hilarious iterations, but a new mod has now replaced the fearsome foe with the time-tested addition of Thomas the Tank Engine. As the latest work by modders ZombieAli and DJPop, protagonists Leon and Claire can now be on the run from the infamous locomotive, complete with his bouncy theme music to turn the terror up to eleven. Check it out in action below.

Those who think they can survive the steam machine’s icy stare can check out the mod over on ResidentEvilModding. However, this isn’t the first time Thomas has wreaked havoc, the Tank Engine also available in mods for a myriad of other games. The Thomas train notably began back in the day with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and has since grown to include more recent titles like Monster Hunter World.

Of course, those looking for other Mr. X mods don’t have to look very hard. Since his introduction, the character has taken numerous forms such as Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 and a decidedly more (ahem) stripped-down look, but none have proven more popular than his big crossover with rapper DMX. To the tune of “X gon’ give it to ya,” players have watched with glee as they met their end to their trenchcoated enemy, an experience that is also apparently possible with Thomas the Tank Engine.

Resident Evil 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
