Dragon Age: Total War Mod Adds Grey Wardens, High Dragons, And More

Ever since the recent reveal that Dragon Age 4 was in the works, the massive fan base for the BioWare series has been understandably invigorated, with old fan art and new cosplays being brought to the forefront as hype for the latest entry in the series grows. Now, it appears that Dragon Age has found its way into the classic turn-based strategy game Medieval II: Total War, because why not?

Hosted over on Moddb, Dragon Age: Total War is a total conversion mod that brings loads of Thedas goodies to the 2006 game by Creative Assembly and Feral Interactive. According to the mod’s creators, DA:TW features “21 distinct factions from BioWare’s world of Thedas, each stocked with a unique and fascinating roster and gameplay, as well as familiar insights into characters from the Dragon Age world and more.” Going a few steps further than your typical mod, the creation “will attempt to portray the unique aspects, cultures, nations, and more of the Dragon Age setting.” A preview of the Ferelden map can be seen below:

Currently in development with an as yet unannounced release date, the mod will allow players to command one of the nations of Thedas, though players will also have the option to command the smaller factions mentioned throughout the series, such as the Grey Wardens and Templar Order. Said factions contain small unit sizes and have a slower recruitment period, though said units are also tougher and deal more damage than the game’s standard units.
