BioWare Exec Gives Update On New Dragon Age Game
With the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda last year, BioWare fans have had their eyes closely following any news of the developer’s next project. The first game for their new IP, Anthem, was revealed at last year’s E3, and with the Mass Effect franchise reportedly on hiatus, many have been looking forward next to BioWare’s return to the Dragon Age franchise. The developer has confirmed the new project and has been hinting at what it could entail for some time now, and today an update for the new Dragon Age game has been given thanks to a new tweet from BioWare’s Mark Darrah.
Halfway through my trip to Barcelona!
I’m here showing Anthem internally to EA. I am EP of BOTH DA and Anthem working with @Bio_Warner as Game Director
Anthem’s up next but there are people hard at work on both franchises and I look forward to sharing more in the future— Mark Darrah (@BioMarkDarrah) January 24, 2018
Mark Darrah, the executive producer of the Dragon Age series, posted the tweet seen above to his official Twitter account today. Darrah appears to be on a business trip in Barcelona to show the latest progress on the upcoming Anthem game to EA. While acknowledging his position as Executive Producer of Anthem over Jonathan Warner’s direction of the game, Darrah also seems to confirm he is indeed performing the same role for the team working on a new Dragon Age game. While Darrah gives no further detail about the new project, this does seem to be a good indicator of the new Dragon Age being well under way to reality thanks to its development team.
The last game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition proved to be a critical and financial success. Its ending, however, seemed to deliver a major change to what fans believed about the franchise’s lore. Given this, there have been suggestions that the next Dragon Age game could be a spinoff set in the same universe rather than a direct sequel. Still, no matter the direction the series takes next, Dragon Age fans will no doubt be elated knowing that a return to the world of elves, dwarves and more is on the horizon. Are you guys happy to hear Mark Darrah acknowledge the new Dragon Age game being in the works? Let us know in the comments below!
