Dragon Age: Absolution Revealed As New Netflix Animated Series (VIDEO)

BioWare’s Dragon Age series continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. Approximately a week after the title reveal of the latest game in the franchise, Dreadwolf, Netflix has announced Dragon Age: Absolution, a new animated series slated to debut on the streaming platform later this year. What’s particularly intriguing is that the show will at least partly take place in the Tevinter Imperium, the same setting of Dreadwolf.

Netflix has announced Dragon Age: Absolution, a new animated series featuring “an ensemble of new characters inspired by, and authentic to, Dragon Age lore.” The teaser trailer accompanying the reveal doesn’t give away too much, but the series is said to feature elves, mages, demons, Red Templars, and more recognizable groups from the game series. Check out the trailer below:

Here are the hot points about the series courtesy of Netflix:

  • Set in Tevinter, an empire within the Dragon Age universe
  • Created in collaboration with BioWare, creators of the Dragon Age video game franchise (winner of over 130+ Game of the Year awards)
  • Features an ensemble of new characters inspired by, and authentic to, Dragon Age lore; including elves, mages, knights, Qunari, Red Templars, demons, and other special surprises

The cast list for the new series has yet to be revealed, though given the show’s late 2022 release date it shouldn’t be too long of a wait to find out whose voices will belong to the as yet unrevealed cast of characters.

Dragon Age: Absolution is slated to debut on Netflix in December 2022.
