New Destiny 2 Season 8 Details Revealed By Bungie (VIDEO)

Following Bungie’s high-profile split from Activision several months ago, Destiny 2 thoroughly expressed their new direction in June’s big pre-E3 event, all-at-once revealing plans for free-to-play, cross-save, as well as an exciting new expansion titled Shadowkeep. The showcase teased quite a few more additions in store for the “new era” of Destiny 2, the first wave of which set to roll out during the game’s upcoming 8th Season of content.

Previously kept under wraps, the first details for Season 8 have now been revealed by Bungie at the annual GuardianCon event in Florida. Dubbed the ‘Season of the Undying,’ players were premised to have loads to do while battling nightmares beneath the Moon’s surface, Shadowkeep also introducing a series of invasions staged by the malicious machine race of the Vex. Guardians are said to be tasked with pushing these cyber-threats back as they attempt to break out across the Sol system.

Shown in the video above, the launch of Shadowkeep was revealed to only be the start of Destiny 2’s renewed future, as three more seasons of content were confirmed following the “Undying” events of Season 8. While Seasons 9 through 11 weren’t given too much context, Bungie assured that the incoming year of endgame updates will provide “new, fresh reasons to jump back into the game, new things to earn, new ways to play” as well as “new ways to challenge yourselves.”

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and will be a launch title for Google Stadia. The Shadowkeep expansion debuts alongside Season 8 on September 17th.
