Pokemon GO Armored Mewtwo Raids Coming Soon (VIDEO)

A modern remake of the first Pokémon movie is coming to theaters this year in Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, the film looking to adapt the original to a pretty close degree. In the meantime, mobile title Pokémon GO has been seemingly teasing the introduction of the film’s central character Mewtwo, or more specifically, Armored Mewtwo. Putting an end to speculation, developer Niantic has now confirmed Armored Mewtwo will officially arrive in a special raid event very soon.

Going live from July 10th (1:00 PM PDT) to July 31 (1:00 PM PDT), Mewtwo will make his return to Pokémon GO, but this time sporting his armored appearance from the Pokemon movie remake. Players will have the chance to encounter the Psychic-type in a limited-time run of five-star raids, and potentially add Armored Mewtwo to their collection. In addition, the game’s Style Shop will stock new Mewtwo-themed items for trainers to trick out their avatar. A trailer teasing the Armored one’s arrival can be viewed below.

Those up to the challenge of capturing this armor-plated variant will be able to do so next week, so players should plan their raid parties accordingly. The occasion coincides with the premiere of Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution which is set to hit Japan on July 11th. The movie is additionally expected to head west later this year on November 17th.
