Destiny 2 Guided Games Has Rough Start at Launch

Destiny 2's Guided Games

The Guided Games feature has only just gone live after the recent release of Destiny 2, and though its intentions are good – the launch was not as smooth as Bungie would have liked. The Destiny 2 Guided Games feature is there effectively to help players match up with other more seasoned Strike and Raid teams. This is also a great idea for recruitment – a “try before you buy”, but with players. Which sounds great … if only it worked the way it was supposed to …

Destiny 2's Guided Games

Access to the Guided Games is gained through the use of tickets, a new type of currency gained through Destiny 2. When “Seekers” utilize these tickets they are then matched up with a clan fireteam that has placed themselves in the “Guide” queue. It seems fine on paper however Bungie has left out one important part necessary for successful matching, if players can’t understand their Guide’s then they’ve just wasted one of their tickets on a fruitless endeavor.

Unfortunately, that’s the case at the moment as players are finding that Destiny 2’s Guided Games is not region locked allowing for players to find fireteams in entirely different countries and players who speak different languages. While it’s cool that Destiny 2 has implemented the helpful feature, the inability to communicate makes it hard to see the appeal when their trying to complete Destiny 2’s difficult endgame content. Destiny 2 hasn’t seen too many bugs and Bungie has been good about jumping on them as they come up, hopefully this issue can be resolved as well.
