Darkest Dungeon 2 Early Access Release Date Officially Revealed
Released way back in 2016, Redhook Studios’ Darkest Dungeon took players into a twisted tale of a hero who inherits their ancestors’ mansion that sits upon the “darkest dungeon” filled with horrors and monstrosities released upon the world. The game featured a unique party system and permadeath mechanic as adventurers are recruited to the cause of ending the blight the comes from beneath the main character’s mansion. Several DLCs expanded upon this idea by introducing new classes, modes, and areas nearby the estate setting.
The intriguing premise is currently set to be expanded upon with a sequel, with Darkest Dungeon 2 recently being awarded a release date as an early access title for the Epic Games Store. A recent Tweet reveals the start of early access for the upcoming game, becoming available as an Epic Games exclusive on October 26th. As it’s been a while since new information came forward about the game, so it looks like fans at the very least have something to look forward to.

The original Darkest Dungeon was also first released as an early access title when it appeared in 2015, so it makes sense that the sequel would also want to test the waters as well. The follow-up was originally revealed to be releasing this year, but not much is known about what to expect in Darkest Dungeon 2 aside from taking players into new horrors beyond the mansion of the first game, and hopefully bringing about new creatures, dangers, and more as players attempt to prevent an apocalyptic event.
Regardless of expectations, it’ll be interesting for fans to see what the game has planned to improve upon the original in terms of mechanics as well as where the story might go from the epic conclusion of the first game.
