Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Release Date Delayed Until Early 2018

Ni no Kuni II Revenant Kingdom

An announcement from Bandai Namco has revealed a new time frame for the release date of Level-5’s sequel title Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom which will see a delay until early 2018. A game that fans of classic JRPGs (Japanese Role Playing Game) have been anticipating since the first game’s release over 5 years ago. Even though the initial date was due this year on November 10th, there will be a debut in January instead. Unfortunately, the studio believes more work needs to be done before the game can be fully released.

Given the high standard that Level-5 holds themselves to, if the creators behind the game feel rushed to bring out a product they feel is unfinished, it only spells bad news. Furthermore, if accounting for the difficulties of translation accuracy, quality assurance, content, and testing – a lot of it is done toward the completion of a game. If that means adding just two months for an amazing experience, that can only mean good things are to come.

Even so, due to these circumstances, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has issued a public apology in congruence with a possible misunderstanding that occurred at E3 2017:

We are announcing that the release of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom on PlayStation 4 and PC has been delayed until January 19th, 2018. We have decided that more development time is required in order to deliver the full Ni no Kuni II experience to our fans. I deeply apologize to those who have been looking forward to the game’s release.”

Hino goes on to explain a possible translation issue that occurred during E3 2017. According to the CEO, he misunderstood a question that was asked of him at the expo and clarified that there will not be a multiplayer experience in the game. He thought the question regarded “online content in general” such as announcements and in-game events. To this end, Hino hopes to restore any faith lost in them with these words:

Please rest assured, however, that we will continue to strive to provide a deep and satisfying player experience that our fans can look forward to enjoying. Please allow me to express the gratitude we all feel towards our players and fans for your constant support. As a team, we will continue to work hard to improve the quality of the game. Please stay tuned for more updates.”
