WATCH: Epic Marvel/DC Unity Fan Trailer Pits The Heroes Against Doctor Manhattan

Unity Fan Trailer Marvel/DC

The biggest heroes from both Marvel and DC Comics have finally assembled on the big screen in Justice League and The Avengers respectively. Fans have been appreciative of the fan service to say the least, but one has to wonder what would happen if the two universes came together for a truly epic crossover. Attempting to answer this idea is the Marvel/DC: Unity fan trailer.

Using footage from all stretches of superhero media, YouTube editor UltraSargent has pieced together a scenario that would very much call for a team-up of this scale, a villainous turn for Watchmen‘s god-like Doctor Manhattan. The nearly 13-minute video sees familiar characters trade one-liners as well as punches in a fairly competently told story about the epic collision of the MCU, DCEU, Arrowverse, and X-Men universes. Check out the Marvel/DC: Unity fan trailer and plot synopsis below:

While experimenting with the Tesseract, Bruce Wayne accidentally causes a chain of events which fuses the Marvel & DC Earths. Now combined, the worlds learn to live together peacefully. Or so they think. The future. A dark, desolate world. With such a growing number of super-powered people exisitng, the Governments of the world decide to initiate the Vigilante Registration Act and attempt to round up all mutants & metahumans.

The world descends into disarray. Heroes are forced to take sides – each having conflicting beliefs. Some believe powerful individuals need to be put in check, while others feel they should be given the freedom they deserve. Professor X seeks out Barry Allen, to travel backwards in time to stop the Vigilante Registration Act being passed and prevent the events that lead to the abominable future. However, unbeknown to them, a deeper threat lurks in the shadows.”

If the above Marvel/DC: Unity fan trailer was enough to tickle your nerd fancy, UltraSargent informs that they’re “interested” in furthering this dark future storyline in a follow up video. Called “Marvel/DC: Knightmare,” the next trailer is said to be in the works and arriving sometime “soon”.

Until that time comes, fans wanting their crossover fix can check out a few of the times DC and Marvel legitimately crossed paths. DC vs Marvel is a self-explanatory clash of the two brands, while JLA/Avengers saw both team up to save their respective worlds. Those with stranger tastes can take a look at the Amalgam Comics imprint, where many of DC and Marvel’s iconic characters were merged into bizarre new beings. Batman and Wolverine combined to become Dark Claw, for example.

What do you think? Should DC and Marvel unite to create the biggest movie ever, is it better that the two very different universes are separate? Would a Dark Claw movie be a better choice?
