Pillars Of Eternity II Deadfire Heading To Consoles, Includes Nintendo Switch

Obsidian Entertainment is well-known for a great variety of games such as their work in Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: Stick of Truth and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR). Of course, how could we forget the original Pillars of Eternity? Obsidian found great success in their crowdfunding campaign for Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire and reached well over 4 million dollars in pledges, a whopping 400% over their original goal. A great success story indeed. It seems now they’re stretching out their reach and heading to console platforms as well.

With an announcement date for PC, Linux, and Mac incoming April 3rd, 2018, console players may have been awaiting news for a release for gamers lacking computers. Thankfully, those worries can be put to rest because Obsidian Entertainment announced that Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire will be heading to Xbox, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.

Pillars of Eternity 2 gameplay Deadfire Backer Update

It won’t be seeing a simultaneous release alongside the PC version, but they revealed that ports should be ready and available by the Holiday 2018 season. That may be quite sometime away, but the developers and publishers known they have a loyal fanbase on console as well.

Much of the porting legwork will be completed alongside developer Red Cerberus, a studio that outsources for other developers in quality assurance testing, localization, porting, and more. With as much work as it will take to bring this rich, story-driven game to three other platforms the original developers will need all the help they can get.
