Sony To Reveal “Compelling” PS5 Game Lineup Soon
The PlayStation 5 is nearly all set to usher in the long-awaited next generation of consoles and the hardware has shown to offer no shortage of impressive features and technology. While Microsoft’s Xbox Series X has been cleaning house with announcements as of late, it appears Sony is currently bubbling under with a bounty of mouth-watering reveals, including a recently teased lineup of “compelling” PS5 titles.
While such an announcement has been expected to land for a while, it looks like Sony is officially gearing up to showcase their gaming wares sometime soon. As revealed in a recent IR meeting, Sony president and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida laid out a number of interesting tidbits regarding the upcoming PS5, including an illustration of the system’s capabilities as well as the teased unveiling of “compelling” first-party and third-party titles. While Yoshida stopped short of providing any potential dates, a reveal was confirmed to arrive sometime “soon.”
A date as ambiguous as “soon” could mean so many things in this day and age, but the PS5’s approaching Holiday 2020 release window would almost definitely place a reveal sometime more immediate rather than later. The coming summer of E3-less events would almost surely see these teases come to fruition, but it would be difficult to judge where Sony would figure in such an unpredictable juncture. Whether the big unveiling will happen over the course of several events or in an all-in-one State of Play presentation is all up in the air at this point.
The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to release sometime in Holiday 2020.
