Rumor: Major Grand Theft Auto 6 Leak Reveals New Story Details
With Rockstar’s latest title Red Dead Redemption 2 having arrived last year, fans are now turning their attention to the future of Rockstar, digging into whatever can be found concerning the next title to be released by the company. Rumors are abound giving fans hints and teases as to what could possibly be on the way especially concerning the unannounced Grand Theft Auto 6. One of the latest leak details a variety of story details ranging from the setting, hints at characters, and much more.
The leak comes by way of Redditor JackOLantern1982 and indicates that the game will be called Project Americas and will be set in a 1970s- 1908s version of Vice City as well as a totally brand new location based on Rio De Janeiro. Players will also have a chance to visit Liberty City for a few linear story missions. The main protagonist for Grand Theft Auto 6 is allegedly an “up-and-coming drug lord wannabe” named Ricardo who will start off as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City. As the game progress, players will rise in the ranks to become a drug lord in their own right building an empire across the Americas. Naturally, it seems as though the game will be heavily inspired by the show Narcos, and will also touch on topics such as HIV and the immigration crisis from the time.
As far as gameplay is concerned, the leak also mentions that while some of the elements featured in RDR2 such as being limited to whatever weapons are on the player’s character, or the story’s chapter system will be making it into the game as well, though Rockstar will be aiming for less realism than the Western title so that the team can include some more arcade elements into the game as well. Because the game spans over multiple years, the buildings and cars will change over time, with older, more collectible cars becoming more expensive as the game goes on.
It is important to remember that none of this is confirmed and everything mentioned above should be taken with a massive grain of salt.
There is no release date on the title, though the leak indicates that it will be releasing only on next-gen consoles alongside the likes of what the Redditor mentions to be Bully 2.
