Amazon’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ TV Series To Focus On A Young Aragorn
There are a great many secrets which hide the true nature of the upcoming Lord of the Rings television show. It is known that the massive deal between Amazon and the Tolkien estate includes the greenlight for a total of 5 seasons so far and that the production costs for the first two will be up in the 500 million dollar range. Aside from that however there’s very little as to what fans can expect. At least until now.
More information has recently arrived with a series of Tweets that tease the possibility that the new show will focus on a young Aragorn, son of Arathorn II and heir of Isildur. The character known as Aragorn in Lord of the Rings is a fascinating one with a very large backstory to explore. With the massive budget being put to use on the Lord of the Rings TV show, it makes sense that the producers would want to focus their attention on one of the major characters, and what better way than to focus on the early days of the young future King of the Reunited Kingdom.

The Tweets continue explaining that the show will not be yet another re-telling of the Lord of the Rings trilogy but rather it will delve into the Appendices covering a vast amount of time history in Tolkien’s work. Following Aragorn in his early years would be one of the showrunner’s greatest advantages, giving them access to a wide array of characters both new and familiar and an incredible library of tales that lead up to the events seen in Fellowship of the Ring.
Amazon has declined to comment on the report however it’s hard to imagine not utilising such as bountiful resource. TheOneRing even mentioned that “if there were a better choice to launch a half-billion endeavor, we can’t see it.” If true, this will give birth to the possibility of full spin-offs and more.
