Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV Show Boasts 5 Confirmed Seasons, Billion Dollar Budget, And More
News has already dribbled in that Amazon has been considering an ambitious Lord of the Rings TV show. Of course, none could have predicted just how ambitious until now. Previous reports noted that the company was in negotiations for the rights, but more news has surfaced that will get fans excited.
The Lord of the Rings TV show plans to be set before the Fellowship of the Ring, giving Amazon a wide berth of Tolkien’s works to explore. The company has negotiated a 5 season stint, with a budget of one billion dollars to do it in. The budget itself would allow the creators to do a great deal with production.
While Amazon paid $250 million for the rights to the Lord of the Rings TV show, their budget would make it the largest of any show in history. This would lend itself to some epic storytelling and visuals on par with the films. Of course, at this point, there aren’t any details about where the story will land.
In order to work within the confines of the deal made for the rights to the Lord of the Rings TV show, Amazon would need to begin production by 2020. With that in mind, fans could likely expect that the first season would air on Prime sometime in 2021. With the possibility of film crossovers that brought Warner Brothers execs into the finalization as well, we could see an explosion of new content in the fandom within the next few years. More news is likely to follow, so keep up with Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story continues to develop.
