Guild Wars 2 Steam Release Delayed Indefinitely In Favor Of New Content (VIDEO)

Guild Wars 2

MMO Guild Wars 2 has been around for quite a bit, originally launching back in August of 2012. Over time the title has grown with consistent “seasonal” content as well as two expansions,  the Heart of Thorns and the Path of Fire. Developer ArenaNet revealed last year their hopes to bring the title to fans on the Steam platform in August along with the two expansions, but unfortunately, the planned version was delayed. Now it seems as though the Steam release of Guild Wars 2 will be delayed indefinitely.

The devs at ArenaNet released a blog post, detailing the decision behind delaying the official Steam release of Guild Wars 2. The post explained that they were overwhelmed by the positive response they received when they showed off a teaser for the third expansion for the game, End of Dragons. Thanks to that feedback, the team decided that they want to focus on creating that content “with the high quality you expect and deserve” as well as delivering the final chapter in The Icebrood Saga in the hopes of outdoing even their previous Living World season content.

Guild Wars 2 is currently available on PC through its own dedicated client. While fans may not see a Steam release anytime soon, the developers stated that November 5th will see the first trailer for the last chapter in the Icebrood Saga to tide them over in the meantime. It’s a little disappointing that Steam won’t be getting a release of the game but at the very least the developers are doing so to provide fans with a quality experience. Perhaps after all is said and done, they’ll once again look at releasing on the platform. Let us know your thoughts on the delay of Guild Wars 2 on Steam and more in the comments section below.
