Ghost Recon Breakpoint To Release On Epic Games Store, Not Steam

Continually luring away many of Steam’s biggest would-be hits, the Epic Games Store has proven itself formidable competition in the PC storefront wars, having secured numerous exclusive releases left and right as of late. Following the the game’s recent pre-hyped announcement, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is now the latest to join the Epic storefront, completely leaving Steam out of their launch plans.

Epic recently announced the Tom Clancy shooter as part of their lineup on the Epic Games Store, officially opening up pre-orders for the game’s Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions. A quick search over on Steam shows that the same privilege is not possible on Valve’s storefront, any search for “Ghost Recon Breakpoint” currently coming back with zero results. In a statement released with PCGamesN, Ubisoft would confirm that no plans currently exist to release on Steam.

While Steam is being left out of the fold, it should be said that Ghost Recon Breakpoint is not an Epic Games Exclusive. The game is additionally available via the Ubisoft Store alongside each of the aforementioned editions as well as the previously-leaked Wolves Collector’s Edition, which includes a bevy of extra content such as a spiffy Cole Walker statue.

Epic Games have been stacking their store with numerous undeniable hits since it arrived last year, having recently listed the likes of Borderlands 3 and The Outer Worlds, in addition to acquiring Rocket League developer Psyonix in yet another shot across the bow of the Steam storefront. If the past is any indication, some fans aren’t likely to enjoy news of yet another Steam snub, but it’s not as though Valve doesn’t know how to effectively stop Epic Store exclusives from happening.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 4th.

What do you think? Are you unhappy that the latest Ghost Recon game is an Epic Games Store exclusive, or were you not surprised after fellow Ubisoft game The Division 2 did the same thing?
