Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Version, New Expansion Planned For 2022
Though the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was rough to say the least, developers CD Projekt Red have since been hard at work to correct the many issues plaguing the title. Now, the game is in a fairly good place, at least on PC, with recent Steam reviews for the title being generally favorable. Combined with a recent sale, it seems as though Cyberpunk 2077 is in a good place for the developers to begin thinking about the future of the game. With this in mind, a recent earnings report has arrived, sharing new information about the title’s future, from new content to re-releases onto various platforms.
Earlier this year, the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of Cyberpunk 2077 were revealed to be delayed into 2022. The new earnings report now gives a more precise window for the launch, mentioning developers are planning to release the next-gen versions of the game within the first 3 months of the year. Even better, this release would arrive alongside a new major “expansion” for Cyberpunk 2077, though there was no mention as to what it might bring to the game.
Considering all this, the developers have been pouring quite a few resources into supporting the title’s post-development, and now it seems that CD Projekt RED is ready to start looking at additional content as well. The earnings report also mentioned that there is ongoing work being done on both the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, a previously-confirmed Netflix-inspired DLC, as well as additional content for Cyberpunk 2077, though, again, there was no mention as to what the content would be.
It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for Cyberpunk now that the title is finally starting to be seen in a bit more positive of light than its launch.
