Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Explains Why Mod Allowing Male V To Romance Judy Is Fully Voiced (VIDEO)
Cyberpunk 2077 features a handful of questlines that let players win the hearts of potential significant others. Some of these characters have some fairly strict rules to even approach them in a romantic capacity such as Judy Alvarez, who is only able to be won over by a female-voiced V with a female body type. Despite this, modders recently discovered that the game also includes fully voiced lines for a male V x Judy relationship. While it may seem as though CD Projekt RED had considered implementing a male V x Judy relationship option, the developer has stepped in to set the record straight.
The video below comes from YouTuber FredrickFlower and shows players just how they can unlock the ability to romance Judy as a male V in Cyberpunk 2077 through the help of console commands. It does get a bit risqué as it plays out the entire NSFW scene that players may have already encountered as a female V, so be warned. There are a few issues such as V’s hands clipping into objects from time to time and an instance in a later scene where the character Carol tells Judy and the male V that they’ll “leave you girls to it.”
While this might seem as though Judy was always meant to be a romantic interest of both the male and female V, CD Projekt RED explains in a recent post that this is not the case. Instead, the reason that the voice lines are there in the first place is that it was simply more convenient to do so. The team recorded all the voice lines of V regardless of body type or voice to avoid missing something and having to go back in for future recordings. The developer also mentions that it was always the intention to have Judy exclusively be available as the female V’s romantic partner and not the male V’s.
It was simply more convenient and easier for our localisation team from a production point of view to record all lines with both voices, so we could avoid missing something by mistake that would require future recordings. This was done with pretty much everything just to be on the safe side although it can vary between the different languages.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia.
