Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Comparisons Addressed By God Of War Director

Assassin's Creed Valhalla God Of War

There have been multiple titles in recent years that have played with the theme of Norse mythology and Vikings as a source, many of which made for some incredible gameplay. 2018’s God of War memorably shifted from the iconic Greek mythos of the first games for the Norse pantheon, with a more tempered Kratos setting out to fulfill his wife’s final wish alongside his son Atreus. Now Ubisoft is ready to take a stab at Norse mythology as well with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, exciting both developers and players alike.

Though many leaks indicated that the next Assassin’s Creed setting would follow Norse mythology, it wasn’t until the recent reveal of Valhalla that anything was truly confirmed. Now with a shiny new trailer to build up hype, many fans are getting extremely hyped up about the Viking-themed title, including Cory Barlog of the God of War franchise. The developer recently took to Twitter, responding to concerns about comparisons between the two titles.

While they are quite similar as far as the setting is concerned, the two are most definitely two separate and unique titles. God of War plays up the gods and goddesses of Norse mythology, but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla looks to be taking a more historical approach to its story. Barlog himself states that he is extremely excited to see what that team at Ubisoft has planned for the upcoming game and there’s sure to be some amazing content in store for players.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to arrive during the Holiday season of this year and will be available for players on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. The game will have a ton of content for players both new and old including customization, and even the return of the hidden blade.
