New Resident Evil 2 Mod Adds The Witcher’s Ciri (VIDEO)
The Witcher franchise primarily features a fantasy landscape of swords, magic, and monsters galore, but the world has also been shown to stretch even further than that on occasion. The series also explores the idea of a multiverse, with several magical beings such as the protagonist Ciri able to travel between dimensions. That piece of Witcher lore looks to have been in mind for a shiny new mod, which has taken Ciri to fight against zombies in the world of Resident Evil 2.
There have been a ton of mods for the Resident Evil 2 remake already, with many altering the appearance of characters like Mr. X into some pretty wild and wacky things. As recently covered by Prima Games, a new mod from user Wiwilz replaces the character model for Claire with Ciri, letting fans play out the game in control of the Witcher protagonist. As an added bonus, the mod also trades out RE2’s combat knives, reskinning them into Ciri’s Zirael sword featured in The Witcher 3.
Those interested in laying down zombies as Ciri can do on the mod’s official page, with Wilwilz instructing players to use FluffyQuack’s Mod Manager when installing it for Resident Evil 2. Unfortunately, the mod doesn’t have any facial animations for Ciri as of yet, though the developer did say they are currently working on them. Still, Wiwilz explains that “rigging the head mesh” is a time-consuming process and that they cannot entirely promise the animations will ever make it into the mod.
Resident Evil 2 is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
