Xbox (Beta) Store On PC Introduces Mod Support For Games

The Steam workshop gives Steam a huge advantage when it comes to PC gaming. Having mod support on a PC title is a godsend for many players and a large part in why the distributor has stood the test of time. With digital purchases of title becoming more and more prevalent and companies bringing out their own first-party apps for titles, the ability to easily use mods will no doubt play a large part in their growth. Now, the Xbox (Beta) store app on PC is beginning to lay down the framework for their own mod support thanks to some recent changes.

While Microsoft has been planning to add mod support for some time now, the latest update for the Xbox (Beta) app is finally giving fans a taste of what’s to come. A recent post on the update reveals a variety of changes that have arrived in the store including support of mods for a game called Into the Breach, an indie title from Subset Games. While on the store page for the title fans can choose to enable mod support in the options, which prompts a warning about the implications of using mods and informing players that by using mods that Microsoft accepts no responsibility if the game breaks due to mod use.

Currently, Into the Breach appears to be the only title that is receiving mod support on the Xbox (Beta) Store app at the moment, though Microsoft has mentioned in the past that they do have plans to expand mod support in the future.
