Guerrilla Collective Showcase Postponed For Later This Month (VIDEO)

Guerrilla Collective Showcase

The month of June is set to be a busy month in terms of events, with quite a few big announcements set to take place in light of E3 2020’s definitive cancellation. All these showcases were supposed to kick off this week, though, with the recent swell of Black Lives Matter protests, many companies have begun postponing their plans in solidarity with the worldwide movement. Joining these mass delays, the indie-focused Guerrilla Collective Showcase has now rescheduled its proceedings for later on in June.

Moving from its original slot this past weekend, the Guerrilla Collective Showcase is now set to take place across three days on June 13th, June 14th, and June 15th. Announcing the move on social media, Guerrilla also prepared a statement declaring their support for Black Lives Matter. “The Guerrilla Collective came together to create a space where we all find a voice to support each other, our industry and our work,” the statement read. “It is the cumulative effort of incredibly diverse teams unified in the creation of a digital event to bring hope and positive content to the world.”

This is a time for action and for voices speaking out for justice and change to be heard. We stand united for change, for justice and in support of Black Lives Matter.”

Guerrilla Collective Showcase becomes only the latest event to vacate their plans, with the likes of publisher Electronic Arts, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 event, and even the high-profile PS5 lineup reveal making way for the global call to end police violence and racism. While this means a week’s wait until the event arrives, Guerrilla has since continued their support on their Twitch channel, showcasing several games “created by Black developers, titles featuring Black protagonists, and conversations with these creators” throughout the day of June 7th.

Now set to arrive next in under a week’s time, Guerrilla Collective Showcase has touted the presence of numerous indie studios for the event, including the likes of Paradox Interactive, Funcom, Raw Fury, Rebellion, as well as quite a few others. One of the more notable of the bunch has been that of Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios, who declared the showcase as the first of many planned reveals set for the remainder of June.
