Star Wars Eclipse Revealed As New Quantic Dream Game (VIDEO)
There is perhaps no singular franchise more culturally known or witnessed as Star Wars, and that cultural impact on the video game industry is fairly well known. From the original Rogue Squadron games to the recent Jedi: Fallen Order, the storytelling magic of Star Wars has translated well in the world of video games. One development studio widely celebrated for its storytelling in recent years has been Quantic Dream, which knows the world of sci-fi quite well. Now, it has been revealed that Quantic Dreams’ next project will be in a galaxy far, far away, titled Star Wars Eclipse.
Lucasfilm has released the Star Wars Eclipse cinematic reveal trailer on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, after making its premiere at The Game Awards 2021 earlier tonight. The footage features an orchestral backing with a strong tribal-like drum beat, played in pace by members of an alien species. Some elements, such as a Mon Calamari and a speeder bike quickly indicate this is indeed a Star Wars game. Other elements, such as a Trade Federation control ship and what appears to be Master Yoda in the Coruscant Jedi Council chamber would seem to indicate that this game will take place either during or before the timeline of Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Other familiar elements seen in the Star Wars Eclipse trailer include a Neomoidian, starships, and a pair of Jedi students training in combat with each other. As the tribal aliens finish their drumming, the end reveals a member of their people emerging out of a black ooze. The trailer then finishes by showing a solar eclipse that had been emerging throughout the trailer, confirming the game’s title is Star Wars Eclipse. The logos then reveal that the game’s developer will be Quantic Dream, the studio behind Detroit: Become Human. The studio proved with that game their ability to tell sci-fi stories well, so they seem like a perfect fit for a big-budget Star Wars game. Hopefully, more about the game is revealed soon so fans can feel “the emotions”, but now amongst the Jedi and Wookiees.
