Sony Is Teasing Big PlayStation News for 2019

Sony has had a pretty interesting year so far. The company had an impressive showing at E3 2018, showing off some impressive future exclusives that are setting PlayStation up in a big way for 2019. Unfortunately, Sony also announced that it wouldn’t be hosting PSX 2018, while also announcing last month, much to the shock of many, that the company would not be at E3 2019. Now, despite this string of announced absences from popular gaming event fixtures, Sony is still teasing some big PlayStation news for 2019.

Following the impressive The Game Awards show, a fan Tweeted about his disappointment that there wasn’t any PlayStation-related news out of Sony’s Shawn Layden. This prompted the chairman to actually reply to the tweet with a response that teases some big things for the new year. Check out the tweet below:

Now, this is certainly not a guarantee that we’re actually getting some big PlayStation news in 2019, though we do know that Sony has been working on what will likely be called the PS5. The company has also been gobbling up patents recently, one of which is highly suggestive of some sort of backward compatibility feature for the new console. We will of course have to wait for some official announcements, but for now, at least Shawn Layden isn’t leaving us hanging.
