DualSense Edge Customizable Controller For PS5 Revealed (VIDEO)

As the console wars lead to some of the most competitive devices ever in this generation, some aspects of a console remain as important now as they ever have. Controllers often can play a big role in how gamers engage with or favor a console. The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller sought to evolve the player experience by adding features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that make the player feel with their hands like they are in the game. Now, to improve this already advanced controller, Sony has unveiled the new DualSense Edge customizable controller being made for the PS5.

This week, Geoff Keighley was on-hand at the Gamescom opening ceremonies and took time to unveil the new DualSense Edge controller on behalf of Sony, as seen on the official Twitter account for The Game Awards. A video is then revealed showing close-up looks at the new controller and its removable parts. This iteration of the controller certainly seems to be going after the advanced features similar to that of the Xbox Elite Controller. Highlighted are the removable twin thumbsticks with swappable stick caps, as well as the removable faceplates.

Customizability seems to be the big focus for the DualSense Edge controller. It has been confirmed by Sony that the controller’s triggers can have their travel distances and dead zones adjusted. The controller can also save multiple control profiles, so that gamers can have their preferred controller button layouts pre-set and ready to go on specific games.  The controller also offers some slick new designs for the controller, such as a black touchpad featuring PlayStation symbols etched in. This is quite a nifty new controller for PS5 users, though players will have to wait to hear more about the Edge controller and its launch window. Until then, the DualSense original will have to suffice.
