Sonic Movie 3 And Idris Elba Knuckles TV Series In The Works

Sonic

A singular story can be an intriguing and wonderful experience, but being able to jump into an entire universe of continuously expanding content is also quite entertaining. Sequels, trilogies, and spin-offs transcend the boundaries of whatever medium these stories were originally told in and help bring those experiences to new audiences, allowing even more consumers to be brought along for the ride. Franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, or even the works of Tolkien and his tales within Middle Earth have been tapped to bring forth new and old stories for fans to engage with. While Sonic the Hedgehog has branched out in the past, the recent endeavor to bring the furry blue hero to the big screen has begun to pick up speed.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to release later this year and yet a new Tweet has arrived indicating that not only is a third film on the way, but a spin-off TV series featuring Idris Elba’s Knuckles will be created as well. The first Sonic the Hedgehog film struggled for a little while, with an outcry from fans concerning the very human-like look to the live-action Sonic. However, after the creators reworked the film to craft a more faithful design of the character, it saw a successful debut in the theaters and VOD thereafter. The sequel aims to further capitalize on the franchise, bringing in even more loveable characters for fans to enjoy. It’ll be interesting to see what comes after the second film in terms of story. As far as the Knuckles series is concerned, perhaps it will give fans a bit of background for the powerhouse Echidna set before the events of the sequel or show what the character does after Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

A third film would leave room for even more characters from the Sonic universe to be brought to the big screen, perhaps a darker take on the films is in order and the creators could bring in the likes of Shadow the Hedgehog, Silver, or maybe even Amy to add to the impressive roster of heroes and villains in the live-action Sonic universe. For the moment there’s been no word as to where Sonic the Hedgehog 3 might go, but it will be interesting to see, nonetheless. The sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog is set to debut on April 8th of this year. Let us know your thoughts on the recent announcement and more in the comments section below.
