Shaggy Meme Resurrected For Mortal Kombat Legends Easter Egg
In the past few years, WarnerMedia has taken several opportunities to showcase the many intellectual properties at its disposal, with Mortal Kombat being a particularly big focus. Aside from this year’s big live-action Mortal Kombat reboot film, Warner Bros. Animation sought to expand the franchise with a new animated film series that began with 2020’s Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge. As WarnerMedia also owns the characters Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, the latter of whom became an internet meme back in 2019, WB Animation has resurrected the Shaggy meme for their new Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms animated film.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon recently shared a clip from the new Mortal Kombat Legends film on his official Twitter account, featuring the popular “Ultra Instinct” Shaggy meme. The clip shows the opening title card from the film for Warner Bros. Animation. For this new film, the WB logo appears, with Scorpion popping out of the perform some fighting moves. Suddenly, the WB logo opens again, with a green-glowing Shaggy grabbing Scorpion, telling him “Like, get over here, man!” With Scorpion subdued, Shaggy faces the audience, with Scooby behind him as Shaggy’s green glow grows brighter into a bright white aura.

This Shaggy meme from 2019 essentially claimed that Shaggy is unexpectedly a super-powerful “Ultra Instinct” being that chooses to only use a fraction of his total power. This led to many gamers wanting to see Shaggy in fighting video games to prove his power, with Mortal Kombat 11 being the most prominent since Shaggy and Mortal Kombat are both owned by WarnerMedia. While this did not come to pass in the games, at least here we get to see Shaggy at his full power, proving he could take out a mighty fighter like Scorpion with a single move. Like, Zoinks!
