Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Campaign Ends with a Whopping $4.4 Million Dollars (VIDEO)

Deadfire

If you’ve been keeping up to date on Obsidian Entertainment’s newest gaming venture, you already know that the latest Pillars of Eternity title has been hot on the trail for gaming success. Just one month ago, game developers started a crowdfunding campaign on Fig to raise excitement for the Deadfire sequel, and with great enthusiasm, excited fans helped the developers reach their goal within 24 hours!

Now, with the close of the campaign, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has surpassed over $4.4 Million in fan-based support, making Deadfire even more successful than its predecessor. Although the last two stretch goals from Obsidian weren’t reached – a $4.5 million goal that would have given a ship crew feature, and a goal at $4.75 million that would have offered up some pretty gnarly sea monsters and some fishing fun – thanks to the help of 33,614 backers, fan contributions have given the developers a chance to offer their final gift in conjunction with the game: a talking Soulbound weapon!

In light of the wild success of this crowdfunding campaign, developers posted their Update 19 video on YouTube, thanking everyone’s support in this financial venture to bring this sequel to life. You can check out the video here, to see what the game creators had to say to their loyal fans:

It’s incredible to see how easily fans can pull together to make great things happen. Just four days ago, the game’s crowdfunding had passed the $3 million goal, offering up a whole slew of additions to the game. For those that missed out on a chance to pledge to this new game, don’t worry. If you still really want to help contribute to the game’s success, make sure you shoot for those Slacker Backer rewards or you can continue to support the game through PayPal by logging in to your Obsidian account!
