Resident Evil Village: How To Pronounce Lady Dimitrescu, According To Capcom
Based on everything we’ve seen thus far, Resident Evil Village is currently one of the most exciting RE games in quite a while with the eighth entry sporting some gorgeous next-gen visuals, a dark and mysterious narrative, and a creative array of horrifying enemies. Head and shoulders above the rest is none other than Village’s “tall vampire lady,” a.k.a. Lady Dimitrescu, who has captured the attention of seemingly the entire internet and (therefore) prominently features in much of the game’s marketing.
Even as the towering matriarch is the arguable face of Resident Evil Village, trouble has recently brewed regarding the exact pronunciation of Dimitrescu, which was largely thought to be a phonetic “Di-mi-tres-ku.” However, the recent Resident Evil Showcase boggled minds with a different pronunciation, with the skyscraping succubus being referred to as Lady “Di-mi-treesk” – with no “u” sound – by event host Brittney Brombacher. As one might expect, fans were one to express their collective confusion on Twitter.
Is that how we say her name!? #LadyDimitrescu @BlondeNerd can you 100% confirm?
I’m blaming @CeasarTowers for telling me differently pic.twitter.com/iYWuOfdIod

With explanations ranging from simple mispronunciation to audio errors with the stream, Resident Evil Village fans have been alight trying to pinpoint what this new pronunciation may mean, and whether or not they’ve been saying Lady Dimitrescu wrong this entire time. Well, after receiving a few queries of her own, Brombacher revealed that “Di-mi-treesk” was not a mistake on her part and that Capcom had actually informed and approved this new pronunciation before the RE Showcase took place.
I’ve received a few questions about the pronunciation of Lady Dimitrescu! Capcom briefed me on how to say it properly (believe me, I asked) and they approved the take, soooo take that for what you will. 😉 https://t.co/GsZuUviEuV

As Dimitrescu is a real-world name with a traditional pronunciation – at least in its native Romania – this new way of referring to the lusted undead lady may be tough for some to acclimate ahead of the Resident Evil Village launch. However, as Lady Dimitrescu doesn’t seem to be one who follows convention, it might be a bit more fitting the titanic vampire doesn’t adopt common name pronunciations either. With all this in mind, fans will be able to hear “Dimitrescu” for themselves when Village releases next month, or possibly even earlier in an upcoming demo.
O btw, is the proper Romanian pronunciation. Doesn’t mean that people should be expected to say it perfectly, even in game. “Dimitrescu” has variations across various languages, all pronounced differently. No one should get hate for how they say it.
She’s still our Lady D ? https://t.co/XDiDuRSWhR

LOL that’s the simpler (and dare I say better) option.
