Video game industry insiders are continuing to spill the beans about the rumored Resident Evil 8 in development by Capcom. The latest has revealed that longtime series protagonist Chris Redfield will be returning for this entry, though he’ll apparently look different than he did at the end of Resident Evil 7.

The report comes by way of industry insider Dusk Golem, who recently took to Twitter to answer questions about the highly anticipated – and still unannounced – survival horror game. One such user asked the insider if the rumors about the redesigned Chris were true, to which Dusk Golem answered with a simple “Yes.”

This suggests that the Chris Redfield will look markedly different than he did both at the end of Resident Evil 7 and its DLC and his more muscle-headed look back in Resident Evil 5. Chris reportedly isn’t the only classic character returning for Resident Evil 8, either, though Dusk Golem has chosen to be rather tight-lipped on the subject.

On that note, though, the insider revealed just a couple days ago that the upcoming title will apparently be the “darkest and most gruesome” entry in the series yet. This really could mean any number of things, though later they went on to say that fans should prepare for “some of the most disturbing enemy designs in the RE series.” Given what we’ve come up against thus far already, that’s a pretty high bar to set.
