Rainbow Six Siege Teases Operation Void Edge Operators (VIDEO)
When Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege launched back in 2015, many of the organizations that each operator belonged to were rooted in reality to some extent such as the FBI, GIGN, Spetsnaz, SAS and more. Over time, however, Ubisoft hasn’t been afraid to bend the rules and bring a little more fiction into the title such as the reinstated Team Rainbow and an Outbreak event that introduced space zombies into the game. Now it seems that rather than stay grounded on Earth, the game will again be looking to the stars with the upcoming Operation Void Edge.
A recent trailer for Rainbow Six Siege has teased the season’s new characters Iana and Oryx and their destructive and stealth-based abilities. The debut appeared alongside a cheeky note written to Six, the in-universe director of Team Rainbow. According to the information in the letter, Iana comes from a family of engineers and has “technological smarts that are out of this world (literally).” Oryx, however, appears to be just the opposite, described as someone “who could bench-press a hundred and fifty pounds with just his face.”
Rainbow Six lore aside, it appears that the two will be quite the pair of operators. As depicted in the trailer above, Iana is an attacker who’s able to use some sort remote-controlled holographic decoy and Oryx is a defender capable of bashing through walls with his hulking frame of a body. There still isn’t too much information on the new operators or locale in Operation Void Edge, but the trailer does indicate that fans will be able to find out more on February 15th during the Six Invitational.
Rainbow Six Siege is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming operators and more in the comments section below. As always don’t forget to follow Don’t Feed the Gamers on Twitter for 24/7 coverage of all things gaming and entertainment.
