Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak Event Details Feature Russian Space Capsules, Alien Parasites, And More (VIDEO)

Outbreak Event

Players of Rainbow Six Siege will soon be able to witness the theoretical scenario of what happens when an alien parasite finds its way into the Earth’s population. The month long Outbreak event coming at the start of Operation Chimera will see players take control of various Operators suited to the task of quarantine including two new operators as they take on hordes of infected civilians across three new maps and two difficulties.

The Outbreak event is a free month long affair allowing Rainbow Six Siege players to join together in teams of three to take on a new mysterious threat. A new blog post released on the Siege website indicates that Operators will be deployed to take on an exotic parasite which has arrived in the crash landing of a mysterious space capsule. Operators will be sent in to contain and destroy the parasite before it can spread across the world.

A few days ago, a mysterious space capsule crashed near Truth or Consequences in New Mexico. It turned out to be carrying an exotic parasite, the Apex, which infected the area and turned the town’s populace into monsters. The Quarantine Zone is the only thing keeping it contained but it will not last for long. If the parasite gets out, it would be a disaster of global proportions. Millions would die. Rainbow’s mission is to enter the devastated town and destroy the parasite’s roots before this happens.

Players will be able play through a unique and fresh twist based off of the PvE gameplay of the base game. This variant will feature 5 unique archetypes of enemies ranging from “exploding monstrosities to hulking horrors” which will force players to fortify and control the environment to their advantage. Three new maps will be available exclusively for the Outbreak event which will be bigger and more open than the game’s PvP maps and will offer a new challenge within two different difficult levels. The Normal difficulty will provide players with a decent challenge but nothing too difficult. The second however is called Pandemic and is where the real event will shine. Pandemic will be incredibly punishing, with friendly fire on and enemies able to do massive amounts of damage requiring players to utilise tactical team play in order to survive the Quarantine.

Not every Operator has the skills necessary to take on the infected hordes of the Apex parasite. The game’s developers have hand selected a list of Operators that they feel would be most effective during the Outbreak event. This includes the two new Operators coming with the release of Operation Chimera:

  • The two new Operation Chimera Operators
  • Smoke
  • Ying
  • Buck
  • Kapkan
  • Ash
  • Doc
  • Tachanka
  • Glaz
  • And last but not least, our faithful Recruit!

The Outbreak event will kick off Operation Chimera and Year 3 of Rainbow Six Siege on March 3rd. More information on the upcoming event will be revealed during the Six Invitationals on February 18-19. Will you be challenging the Apex parasite in the Quarantine zone?
