Overwatch’s Doomfist Mentioned in Recent PTR Update Crashlog
It was recently discovered that the Summer Games could be making a return to Blizzard’s popular FPS with the fan favorite Lucioball. Essentially, a recent update in the Public Test Realm(PTR) brought with it a few changes in the form of Goals, Saves, and Interceptions statistics in players’ profiles. Upon further testing in said public realm, something else of interest has popped up – a crashlog. While that was completely anticlimactic, this particular error resulted in the mentioning of Overwatch‘s Doomfist. That’s right – let the speculation flow!
The current patch running in the PTR is 1.13, and if it is hanging around there, that means it will be hitting the actual game in the relatively near future. However, if this update were to introduce Overwatch‘s Doomfist, it would be awfully out of character for the game’s development team. Sure, they’ve surprised players with new maps without them first hitting the PTR, but never a new character. They usually want to get new heroes as balanced as possible before hitting the live game. Maybe it’s a new in-game hint that is popping up. Only time will tell.
As seen in the image above, which was posted to the Battle.net forum by user bax42, the error that was returned while playing in the PTR clearly shows Overwatch‘s Doomfist by name alongside the Summer Games. In fact, it says,”Overwatch – 1.13.0.0 Doomfist/Summer Games.” There is no telling what this truly means until the team over at Blizzard decide to let the public in on the secret. Of course, as it has been in the past, this could be the dev team’s way of trolling players with a classic misdirect. In any case, something is coming, so stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as way not to miss out.
What say you, heroes? Is Overwatch‘s Doomfist an illusion and destined to remain as such until the end of time? Will he actually ever make it to the game, or is Hammond next in line? Is Hammond actually Doomfist? Are you excited that Lucioball is likely on its way back?
