Overwatch’s Latest PTR Update Hints at the Return of Lucioball (VIDEO)

Lucioball

Overwatch players might remember the fun little play mode Lucioball from the Summer Games event that took place last year. It involved two teams of everyone’s favorite audio medic in a Rocket League-esque arena, with each group attempting to get the rather large ball into the goal. After the mode went away, fans immediately wanted it to return. To this, game director Jeff Kaplan said they would love to bring it back. Well, nearly a year later, it looks like that may finally be the case.

In the most recent Public Test Realm(PTR) update, fans have noticed a few additional stats on their profile pages within the game. Goals, Interceptions, and Saves have all appeared, which leads some to believe Lucioball is making its triumphant return to Blizzard’s popular FPS. YouTuber Unit Lost was kind enough to capture a bit of video showing off the changes, and while they presented it as if it is truly coming back, it is simply speculation at this point. Check it out for yourself below:

Viewers will also notice the song that is showcased in the video above. It was datamined and posted to Reddit by user DeadGirlDreaming, and it certainly sounds a whole lot like the theme of a Summer Games event. Could there be more play modes added along with Lucioball? Is all of the glorious loot that was available last year during the event being made obtainable once more? Only time will tell.

Speaking of Overwatch updates and the PTR, recent changes have been made to the Highlights feature, which will allow players to capture moments in-game and even save the videos to their PC or consoles. Also, the five highlights that are usually on the home screen will be available for 24 hours instead of disappearing after the game is closed. In addition to this, Loot Boxes are receiving a buff that will significantly reduce the amount of duplicates players receive. The changes are currently live in the PTR, and you can read more about them right here.

What say you, heroes? Excited for the prospect of Lucioball making a return to Overwatch? If they do bring it back, are you hoping last year’s Summer Games loot will be made available again?
