New Overwatch Short Dives Deep Into Mercy’s Turmoil
Despite her conviction to save the lives of those around her, the calm and serene disposition, and angelic presence – Angela “Mercy” Ziegler’s story is as profound as the the receptiveness to her character by the Overwatch community. Diving deeper into the medic’s background, Blizzard released a new short story on Mercy thanks to Michael Chu, Nesskain, Arnold Tsang, Hong-Chan Lim, Hai Phan, and Benjamin Scanlon. Despite the welcome reception Mercy has received since Overwatch launched in 2016, much of the deep dives into character lore were only sprinkled here and there. With over 30 heroes to keep track of, it’s difficult to give everyone the spotlight they deserve. As one of the first to grace the Overwatch roster, the latest short story titled Valkyrie sheds insight on Dr. Angela Ziegler…before Mercy was called back to action.
Valkyrie is a short read of 26 pages from Mercy’s perspective as she spent years in Egypt to assist the people despaired and ravaged by destruction…thanks to Overwatch. She spends a fair time sorting out the guilt as well as the painful losses in her life. If you’re a Mercy main or just interested to bury yourself in canon Overwatch lore, check out the short story here.
