Overwatch Reveals Sigma As Hero 31 In Stunning Trailer (VIDEO)

Having introduced 30 different Heroes so far in Overwatch, Blizzard has been teasing a much anticipated 31st character over the last few weeks, an imminent arrival bearing the name of ‘Sigma.’ After mounting hype, this debuting character has now received a reveal. depicting the evil scientist’s origin story in a stunning announcement trailer.

Premising an eccentric scientist, it’s revealed how an experiment gone wrong infused him with gravity-warping abilities, creating the dangerous villain persona of Sigma. As reads the description: “Peek inside the mind of an eccentric astrophysicist who hopes to unlock the secrets of the universe, unaware he’s been turning into a living weapon.” Check out the Sigma origin trailer below.

There isn’t much to gather about how Sigma might play in Overwatch, but there is an intriguing snippet of gameplay depicted in the video’s last few seconds. While not particularly action-packed, it does see Sigma wield a pair of floating orbs, likely indicating the character utilizes some sort of gravity-manipulating tech on the battlefield.

As of now, it’s unknown when Sigma might see their debut in Blizzard’s Hero shooter, though it shouldn’t be long if considering past roster updates. Overwatch’s last character introduced was Baptiste back in February, the combat medic going live in the PTR and fully releasing relatively soon after in March. Though it’s unknown when the same might happen for Sigma, it’ll likely happen in the coming days as gamers head into August.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
