We have a few months to go before the mysterious Death Stranding arrives, and with everything that has been revealed so far, it is still difficult to tell what exactly is going on in the game. That said, director Hideo Kojima has been more open about the development after revealing the release date, and we now have a first look at the box art for the PlayStation 4 exclusive.

During the recent celebration of fandoms that is San Diego Comic-Con, Hideo Kojima revealed the box art for Death Stranding. Not only do we get to see the standard edition of the game, which features Norman Reddus’ Sam, but we also see the steel book version, which shows an alternative cover involving what appears to be the mysterious black goo from the game. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam Bridges to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.”
