Mortal Kombat 11 Director Teases Mileena Fans About Possible DLC

Mortal Kombat 11 Director Teases Mileena Fans About DLC

Mortal Kombat 11 is filled with characters both new and old, but as one might expect from an eleventh franchise outing, there’s numerous fighters that still couldn’t make the cut. One of the more noteworthy of these omissions has been Mileena, the sai-sporting ninja being completely left out in favor of her in-game rival Kitana. Though it may seem the character just wasn’t meant for MK11’s roster, fans have nonetheless held out hope she might return as potential DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11 Creative Director Ed Boon recently responded to Mileena rumored return over Twitter, pointing out an especially far-reaching piece of speculation. Boon’s post highlights a screenshot of one of his past tweets, the image heavily scribbled out to spell “Mileena.” The director paired this image with the reply, “please tell me those letters aren’t actually there,” making light of Mileena hopefuls and DLC roster speculation in general.

As Boon has a reputation for being particularly trolly over Twitter, nobody should really see this as an indication Mileena is on her way to Mortal Kombat 11. Though, fans shouldn’t necessarily expect the worst either, as there’s still plenty of ways the magenta murderer could potentially make a comeback. The latest game features time-travel shenanigans, cyberized clones, as well as a prevalence of Revenants, providing numerous avenues for nearly anyone to make a return. With a total of 19 DLC characters rumored to be on the way, it’s hard to believe Mileena couldn’t at least be one of them.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

What do you think? Are you still hopeful for a Mileena DLC, or is there better chances of her showing up in Mortal Kombat 12?
