Live Action Dynasty Warriors Film Announced For 2019 With New Teaser Trailer (VIDEO)
One of the biggest factors present in the near future of blockbuster cinema is the significance of the Chinese box office audience, and the demand for film adaptations of favorite video game franchises. Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu all have films in the works that will put them front and center and some of the biggest movies at the worldwide box office this year have been Chinese productions. Now, it seems like these two aspects of the industry will intersect with a new live-action Dynasty Warriors film, which has been announced for a 2019 release.
A teaser trailer for the new Dynasty Warriors film was posted recently, giving brief glimpses of shots from the upcoming movie. While the respective games have all been released by Japanese company Tecmo Koei, this film project is being produced by China 3D Digital Entertainment Limited. This does make some sense considering that the series has traditionally been based on Records of the Three Kingdoms, a Chinese historical text. As such, the film will be primarily made for Chinese audiences with an added appeal for foreign markets eager to see a live-action version of the Dynasty Warriors games.
The trailer shows many heroes and villains decked out in traditional, medieval Chinese garb and armor typically seen in the Dynasty Warriors games, and “Pan Gu” energy from the game is mentioned in the trailer. This “Pan Gu” energy builds up in a human body and can be harnessed into “Musou” energy that a warrior can be born with to make them stronger and to perform epic feats of combat. The film will be directed by Roy Chow Hin Yeung and will be released some time in 2019.
Until then, fans will have to let their “Pan Gu” energy build in anticipation. What do you guys think about the new live action Dynasty Warriors film? Let us know in the comments below!
