LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Includes 300 Playable Characters
Video gaming has many franchises stemmed from outside of the digital world, with perhaps one of the most successful licensed franchises being the LEGO video games, especially the LEGO Star Wars games. These were the first titles to cement developer Traveller’s Tales’ particular blend of easy-to-learn combat and platforming, combined with the creative and lighthearted core of the LEGO toys and brand. A new LEGO Star Wars game was previously announced to include content from all nine core Star Wars films, and now the developer has confirmed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will have at least 300 playable characters.
As reported by GamesRadar+, TT Games’ Dawn McDiarmid (presumably of no relation to Emperor Palpatine actor Ian McDiarmid) gave new details about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The series has been well known for allowing players to control numerous characters from the Lucasfilm franchise, with multiple variations of characters in some cases. With this new title aims to embody nine Star Wars films on the latest-released consoles, it seemed inevitable for The Skywalker Saga to incorporate more characters than ever along with brand new features. Some of the new features described by McDiarmid are as follows:
A more in-depth quest system which features not only more elaborate and ridiculous quest chains … but a whole new tracking system on your datapad with which to engage with the quests, and the ability to do multiple quests simultaneously.”
McDiarmid also confirmed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will have around 800 characters from the film saga, with at least 300 of these characters being fully playable in the game. One confirmed playable character is Babu Frik, who made his debut in The Rise of Skywalker as an underground droid slicer. McDiarmid describes the playable Babu Frik as “possibly one of the cutest things I have ever seen.” While no additional characters have been confirmed yet, there’s a treasure trove of iconic characters under the Lucasfilm umbrella. Hopefully, Yak Face, Gasgano, and Constable Zuvio are among the new playable characters. Those poor blokes deserve some spotlight for once.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is planned to release for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2021.
