Legend Of Zelda Game Ingredients Accidentally Used In Award-Winning Author’s New Novel

Legend of Zelda

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas author John Boyne released a new book earlier this year called A Traveller at the Gates of Wisdom, a tale that takes the reader throughout time as they follow along in an epic story of family and a quest for revenge. One would expect that such a serious tale spanning real-world history would have real-world items and ingredients used when speaking about a recipe. In a hilarious turn of events, however, John Boyne accidentally used The Legend of Zelda assets in his latest novel thanks to a small slip up in Google searches.

It was brought to TV writer Dana Schwarts’ attention that the latest book from Boyne featured a passage describing a recipe for making a red dye to be used in colouring a dress. Among some of the real components were some unusual choices, particularly an Oktorok eyeball, the tail of a red Lizalfos, and 4 Hylian Shrooms. Of course, fans were quick to recognize that these were in fact ingredients used in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Schwarts’ thread began.

It would appear that while doing research on how to dye clothes red, Boyne stumbled upon a recipe utilizing monster parts from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After the discovery went viral, Boyne responded claiming that he thought it was a hilarious albeit very serious mistake on his part, stating that he was going to own it. Rather than alter the recipe for future printings of the book, Boyne claims that he’ll keep the original as is.

Even professionals make mistakes sometimes and this is slip up is quite humorous. The Legend of Zelda is currently available for the Nintendo Switch while John Boyne’s new novel is also available and can be found on Amazon, book stores, and other book retailers.
