Guilty Gear Strive Confirmed For PlayStation 5, Steam (VIDEO)

Guilty Gear Strive Leo Whitefang

Known in recent years for action-packed fighting games such as Dragon Ball FighterZ and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Arc System Works is now on the way to return to one of its most prolific franchises in the Guilty Gear series. Dubbed ‘Guilty Gear Strive,’ the classic roster has boasted some impressive gameplay, anime-inspired cel-shaded visuals, as well as a few all-new characters to make the experience fresh for both new players and veterans. Now it looks like the game is currently on its way to two new platforms in the PlayStation 5 and Steam PC.

The release revelation comes from the recent Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable, where – in addition to a new Soulcalibur VI announcement – the event also unveiled the latest characters to be included in Guilty Gear Strive. Two characters were shown in total, bringing back the relentless journal-jotting warrior Leo Whitefang and introducing a mysterious new sword-wielding vampire named Nagoriyuki. The duo’s reveal trailer can be seen below alongside character descriptions via an Arc System Works press release.

Nagoriyuki is the newest addition to the Guilty Gear universe. A vampire with a number of unique and powerful abilities, he wields a huge sword with impressive skill in battle and slashes at his enemies with punishing blows. Stay tuned for more info about this mysterious figure!

Leo is one of the three ‘Allied Kings’ of the Allied Kingdom of Illyria, and is responsible for the governing of Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. He is also an accomplished warrior in his own right, with a relentless fighting style.”

Originally meant to release later this year, Guilty Gear Strive was met with a delay back in May due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While this news meant that fans wouldn’t get to play the game until 2021, series producer Takeshi Yamanaka assured the team is “putting in a sincere effort” to utilize this extra development time and implement various player feedback to “further improve the quality of the game.”

Guilty Gear Strive is expected to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 sometime in Spring 2021.
