Left 4 Dead 3 Teaser Posted By Fake Valve Dev Debunked

With iconic franchises such as Half-Life, Portal, and Left 4 Dead, it’s easy to give in to the temptation of believing a new game is just around the corner. A new Left 4 Dead 3 rumor began circulating recently following a teaser image posted on a Valve developer’s Facebook page drawing on the hopes of fans everywhere. Sadly, as much as players might like to believe Valve would release hints in such a dubious manner – they’ll be sorely disappointed.

Recently a profile of what appeared to be a Valve developer by the name of Ted Carson popped up featuring what looked like a Left 4 Dead 3 teaser. The image showcased a slight spin on the iconic four fingered zombie hand, this time featuring only three fingers instead. The profile itself might never have been found had it not been for a link on the Left 4 Dead social media accounts. Coming from an official source seemed to give this rumor some validity, however it appears that the site was hacked to a small degree.

Clues indicating that the rumor is false were quite easy to find. Carson’s profile was listed as female, the page was registered under an unrelated Gmail account, and the image itself appeared to be a simple edit of the original Left 4 Dead stock only cutting off the pinky. Later, a second image was posted featuring the same edit with the addition of a Magic the Gathering card and text that reads “The Left 4 Dead Card Game” further indicating the leak to be completely and utterly false. Bummer, because we’d actually be really down for that.

Left 4 Dead 3 Rumor

Some bored troll certainly had a great time flaming those fan hopes, but hopefully no longer as the Facebook page has since been taken down and the links send fans to the appropriate pages once again. Whether or not the series has a title in the works apart from the latest rumor remains to be seen. Let us know your thoughts on the false Left 4 Dead 3 teaser and more in the comments section below.
