New Overwatch Busan Map Brings The Fight To D.Va’s Turf (VIDEO)

Overwatch Busan Map

While Overwatch has taken over our real world with fans playing the game across the globe, the world inside the game itself is looking to ever expand its variety of maps. Many were excited last month to hear that a new map centered around fan favorite heroine D.Va’s home in South Korea would be represented in the game soon. Now, the new Overwatch Busan Map is finally available, and it represents many important aspects of South Korean culture, both traditional and modern.

Blizzard has released a video detailing the new map on their official Overwatch Twitter account.  The map is comprised of three unique sections: Downtown, Sanctuary and MEKA Base. The downtown area features slightly futuristic versions of modern Korean staples of everyday life, including a train station and karaoke bar. The Sanctuary is modeled after traditional Korean temples and boasts a peaceful autumn setting. Finally, the MEKA Base is the home of operations for D.Va and her defense team, complete with entertainment center and dining area.

Overwatch has become an immensely popular game in South Korea, with the title becoming a key part of the nation’s eSports scene. It is certainly delightful to see Blizzard create a map that pays tribute to so much of what makes that nation so special, and gives D.Va a map to call home. Hopefully King Jong-Un doesn’t come aggressively knocking on this map’s door any time soon.

The new Overwatch Busan map is ready for PC, PS4 and Xbox One players to jump in and experience immediately.
