Super Mario Odyssey Producer Interested In Adding More Downloadable Content

Super Mario Odyssey is a game to be enjoyed by all ages, and it’s brought fun to children, families, and even competitive speedrunners who can’t wait to undress Mario. Yes, you read that right. Aside from it’s fast-paced fun and overwhelming success as a brand new game on an innovative new console, it has sold over 6 million copies and quickly became a household favorite everywhere.

Thankfully, for those who can’t seem to get enough of this Italian stallion, Super Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi is interested in bringing more downloadable content. In a recent interview with Game Informer, he informed that though there’s already so much to be enjoyed with the game as is, there’s certainly nothing holding the developers back from creating more.

There’s a lot of volume [in Super Mario Odyssey]. That was a big focus in development. Give the player tons to do. We pushed ourselves to create as much as we could. I can’t announce anything specifically today, but of course, if there was a really cool idea for us to do, then we would certainly be thinking about DLC.”

While that doesn’t confirm anything as of yet, those are certainly promising words from Koizumi himself. Despite the amount of gameplay time that can be invested in the base game alone, Nintendo is known for its creative genius and fun ideas. Who knows what else they’ll bring to the table? Perhaps he’ll finally get that belly button. After all, he got nipples and everyone’s down with that.

For those looking for more immediate news, Super Mario Odyssey is bringing new costumes for Mario. There will also be the introduction of a new game mode called Luigi’s Balloon World, a timed multiplayer experience where players must find and hide balloons from others.
