DFTG Recaps The Week’s Biggest Movie/TV Trailers: February 12 (VIDEO)

DFTG Recaps The Week's Biggest Movie/TV Trailers

Last week is officially behind us and now’s the time when DFTG recaps the biggest movie and TV trailers of the week. Early on we saw the stunt-driven spy-fest Mission: Impossible – Fallout take Tom Cruise to new heights (literally), and not long after brought the first look at Spider-Man villain Venom in his first standalone movie, albeit with one major missing feature. Outside those two, there were also a few other releases that fans may have missed, the biggest of which have been listed below.

Jessica Jones – Season 2

SPOILERS! Following the 2017 team-up with The Defenders, Marvel’s sarcastically bitter P.I. Jessica Jones is back in an all new season. The new trailer follows Jessica as she tries to uncover the origins of her super-powered strength, but a violent new threat makes themselves known and proceeds to complicate things in a dangerous way. Offering the exact opposite of help is a teased appearance from Kilgrave, who seemingly returns from the dead after the end of last season. Season 2 of Jessica Jones will begin streaming on Netflix March 3rd.

Skyscraper

In last week’s DFTG recaps, we witnessed a glimpse of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fighting his way into a flaming building, but a full length trailer for Skyscraper adds a few more instances of context. The Rock portrays Will Sawyer, a former FBI member turned security assessor with a sweet goatee. Events go from normal to fiery pretty quickly as Will is forced to navigate an advanced skyscraper to save his family from terrorists. Everything seems very much like Die Hard, but with The Rock, and that just sounds glorious on paper. We’ll see if it translates to the big screen when Skyscraper releases in theaters on July 13th.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Star Wars fans are extremely divisive over the latest entry in the series The Last Jedi, but what better way to unite the fanbase than with a new film that harkens back to the original trilogy? That at least looks to be the idea with Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film is to follow a young version of Han Solo featuring the smuggler’s early adventures with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Recent trailer footage showcases plenty of great-looking space battles as well as a promising cast which includes Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, and Alden Ehrenreich as Han. Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to release in theaters May 25th.

Untitled Deadpool Sequel

Deadpool‘s upcoming (and unnamed) sequel is upon us later this year will see the addition of the time-traveling mutant Cable. While the last trailer only hinted at the heavily-armed badass, we’ve gotten a new trailer solely focused on introducing Cable, as well as the rest of the team, to the masses. Of course, Deadpool couldn’t let things go entirely to plan, as the midpoint of the footage turns into an impromptu doll fight between Cable and “Sheriff Deadpool”. Perhaps a nod to the Disney/Fox merger? Untitled Deadpool Sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on May 18th.
